cloudy day crumbles

yesterday was the definitive inside day: rainy, cold and grey.

i always feel that cold, rainy days call for baking –
something sweet to fill the house with warm cinnamony smells and biscuity delight. yep, yesterday was definitely baking weather.

for me fruit crumble is the ultimate comfort food. warm, delicious, and simple.

inspired by a recent donna hay recipe, yesterday i made these little lovelies –
spiced pear and raspberry crumble pies.

i poached the fruit in indian spice tea and then piled the beautifully fragrant fruit into tart shells and baked them with a golden crumble topping.
the result was the perfect little crumble pie – crisp pastry, soft warm fruit laced with cinnamon, ginger and cloves, and crunchy brown sugar crumble.

thanks donna for the perfect sunday afternoon tea.
