as i have mentioned before, in my world, monday mornings often seem to require a little helping hand; a little nudge to get the week started off in the right way.
most often, this helping hand comes in the form of sugar –
and really what better form of the sweet stuff could monday morning ask for than a handful of hundreds and thousands?
they are the infinitely cheerful sprinkle and favourite among every little person i know (and many a not-so-little person too it must be said).
feeling that i was perhaps now too old for fairy bread though
(at least not without the ruse of a children’s party),
i decided upon these little sprinkled shortbread instead.
i stumbled upon the recipe on another lovely food blog
and have been waiting for an excuse to make them ever since.
and i have to say, they did not disappoint –
little buttery bites with just the right amount of child-like wonder mixed in.
the perfect antidote to my monday morning blues.
