i have been secretly dying to do some christmas baking for a while now,
but felt that november really was a bit early for festive cheer.
there’s only so much to go around you see (cheer that is),
so i didn’t want to peak too soon and use up my share too early.
with this in mind, i waited until the first weekend in december
(oh what restraint!)
to make these gorgeous little star-topped mince pies.
and i am pleased to say, it was worth the wait.
flaky sourcream pastry proved the perfect foil for the sweetly-spiced fruit mince –
each mouthful was christmas-y and delicious.
